Conference on Southeastern Indians to be held on UGA campus Feb. 19-20
The University of Georgia will be the site of a major conference sponsored by the Institute for Native American Studies (INAS) on Feb. 19-20. "Southeastern Indians through Time: Land, Environment, and Geography" will draw experts from all over the country to events which will be held in room 117 Visual Arts and open free to the public.

Noted UGA pianist and teacher Richard Zimdars to present lecture-recital
Richard Zimdars, the Depsy Karlas Professor of Piano in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music will present his lecture-recital "American Innovators: Henry Cowell and Dane Rudhyar" will be on Feb. 9 at 8 p.m., in the Edge Recital Hall in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. The event is free and open to the public, and afterward his CD, which has received rave reviews, will be for sale.

Artist Ray Troll to visit campus as part of Darwin Days celebration
Celebrated Alaskan artist Ray Troll will visit the University of Georgia campus as part of the annual Darwin Days week February 9-10, 2010. Troll will present a free lecture entitled, "Crusin' the Fossil Freeway: An Artist's View of the History of Life" in the Ecology Auditorium on Wednesday, February 10 at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend and a reception will follow. The Ecology Auditorium is located in the Odum School of Ecology, 140 E. Green Street.
Classics
The undergraduate and graduate degree programs of the Department of Classics rank among the largest and strongest of Classics departments in the United States. Our students have won numerous competitive scholarships and other awards, and our graduates have gone on to excellent jobs in a wide range of careers - including teaching at the primary and secondary school levels - and to Ph.D. programs at a variety of prestigious universities.
Romance Languages
The Department of Romance Languages is one of the largest and most productive departments at the University of Georgia. The faculty comprises a full range of specialists offering courses in all literary periods and genres as well as linguistics, culture, film and theory. The Department offers undergraduate and graduate programs in French, Italian, Portuguese, Romance Languages, and Spanish.
Microbiology
Microorganisms are ubiquitous, abundant and ancient. Since its formation in 1953, the Department of Microbiology continues to meet the world's bio-challenges by offering graduate and undergraduate students hands-on laboratory and research opportunities that take them to the next level of their education.
